Sometimes a simple conversation can be all it takes to make someone’s day. I received a call today from an old family friend. He had called my number by accident. Two hours later I came off the phone

It’s good to talk

We talked about everything from current affairs to family and tales from the past. It was an unexpected call with unexpected benefits for both of us. Over the course of the call we went through many emotions; anger, sadness, laughter, tears, surprise and joy.

I came off the phone with a feeling of happiness. In my heart I feel that this call was no accident. This lonely person was reaching out for some ‘company’ …and found me.

We all know someone who we haven’t spoken to for a while.

The only thing stopping you picking up the phone and calling them is your own ‘busy’ life. Giving your time to other people brings it rewards. I have reconnected with an old friend and I have learned many new things about him and his life. Talking about my own day helped me make sense of my feelings too. Having someone listen to you can really help you de-stress and de-clutter your thinking.

They say a problem shared is a problem halved.

I feel lighter for having unloaded my thoughts and feel much happier for letting someone share their thoughts with me. The important thing is not to talk non-stop about yourself… make sure you let the other person get a word in  Are you really so busy that you can’t spare some time for an old friend..?
